Curtis and Andrew draw in B Team's first match of the Season

On Thursday evening our B Team travelled to take on Bristol University. University teams are always an unknown quantity at the beginning of the season so we didn't know quite what to expect. Andrew was drafted in late on and positionally outplayed his opponent gaining an overwhelming position. Unfortunately his decision to play it safe allowed his opponent to simplify into a drawn rook and pawn ending.

Curtis, playing his first game of the season, was the only other player able to draw. Unfortunately I haven't seen that game but I am sure he will be pleased to get off to a solid start. Similarly, at this stage I haven't heard anything about the other games which were lost. The final match score was 3-1 to the University.
