Are you ready to take your game to the next level? With a surge of new talent in our club, we're excited to offer a dynamic training programme designed to help you develop your skills rapidly. This programme is entirely voluntary and tailored to meet your individual needs.
The programme will be run by Iain Bourne and Andrew Borkowski, who are both ECF coaches and DBS checked.
Rather than signing up for a series of coaching sessions, you simply sign up for one assessment and planning session. This would last for an hour with either Iain or Andrew.
This session would involve an in-depth assessment of all aspects of your game – openings, middle game, endgames, tactics, strategy, positional play and planning. Out of this collaborative effort, a development plan will be agreed – identifying what to concentrate on over the next few months, and how to go about it.
After the session you will be given a two-page summary of the assessment and plan – either printed or as a Word document.
When you feel things have moved on you can request a further session to review progress and update your plan. In between sessions, Iain and Andrew will be around and will take an interest in your progress, and you can always ask for informal advice.
Iain is available on most club nights between 6.00-7.15 and at Brunch Chess and Sunset Chess sessions. Andrew is available on most club nights. If you are interested simply approach them directly, or by email, or by direct message on WhatsApp.
Iain and Andrew do not receive any payment for this (nor do they want it) but there is a charge to the club of £25.00 for adults and £15.00 for under-18s. Of course, you are welcome to pay more if you think the service is outstanding!
If you don’t feel ready for this, the club also has an ECF Coach, Jane Norton, and several CSC trained Chess Tutors that are very happy help with players who are just starting out. The world is your oyster!
